Treatment Options For A Baby Allergy

May 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

By David Cowley

Dealing with a baby allergy can be difficult for parents; they often work very hard to keep their child from whatever they have an allergy to and then often need to help the child cope with an allergy attack when it does happen. It’s imperative for a parent to understand natural treatment options for any baby allergy as of course you never want to give your child any over-the-counter or prescription medication unless first advised by your doctor. Medications designed for adults can be harmful and even fatal for a baby.

First of all, remember that it’s very common for a child to suffer from a baby allergy. Allergies are the result of the immune system not responding properly to fight off irritants and of course a baby’s immune system is nowhere near as developed as it should be. Allergies can and often are outgrown by children, so even if your child has severe allergies now this doesn’t mean he or she will be suffering from them forever.

Also, when dealing with a baby allergy make sure you’re not doing anything to irritate it further. While your baby may be allergic to certain food or elements in the air, switching to allergen-free detergents and personal care items can help tremendously. Be sure that whatever you use for your baby allergy that you’re not overmedicating as this can only further irritate the allergy. Get a HEPA filter for the home or the baby’s nursery, and apply a warm wet cloth to the baby’s chest to clear any lung irritations.

Use Eucalyptus or olbas oil in boiling water and allow the child to inhale the steam that is being generated. This treatment is also very good for any type of stuffy nose due to a cold, flu or allergy problems. Both readily diffuse into the air and can provide benefits to nasal and bronchial areas. If your baby suffers from air-borne allergies then an environment with a high humidity will be of benefit because air with a high humidity content does not carry air-borne contaminates well. Extra moisture in the air will also help to remove any pollen or other allergy producing pollutions from the air.

When treating a baby allergy for the skin, use products that list oils as their first ingredients rather than the diaper rash cream you get at the pharmacy. Sunflower oil, cocoa butter, aloe, shea butter, olive oil, rosewater, and other natural oils are going to be better on baby’s skin than harsh creams and treatments. Make sure the products also have no synthetic fragrances. Zinc oxide is also a natural treatment option for a baby allergy of the skin as it forms a natural urine barrier to protect the skin from wet diapers.

If you have done all you can to treat the baby allergy then it’s time to see a doctor. While parents often prefer to use natural ingredients and avoid harsh medications and other treatments, it is also important that a child be treated properly especially in the case of a severe allergy. Failure to see a doctor and get medical intervention in severe cases can result in tragedy. So use all the natural treatment options you can for your own baby allergy but don’t rule out bringing your precious baby to the doctor as well.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Have You Experienced The Allergic Reactions To Bee Stings?

May 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

by Syahrul Azlan

We can get numerous allergies in our environment but one of the allergies that can be treated is a bee sting allergy. The allergy occurs once the people have an unusually high sensitivity to bee stings; this can cause a physical reaction and can put your life in endanger.

Anyone of us could experience the allergic reactions to bee stings. The survey says that mostly of the people that die from the severe allergic reactions to bee stings every and each year than from snake bites, only small amount of people who suffer with bee stings which actually could suffer from fatal reactions and can end one’s life and die.

The causes of these are; once the immune system develops antibodies and other disease fighting cells in response to an allergen, that an allergic reaction starts to develop. Our antibodies release chemicals that actually destroy the surrounding cells and lead to physical symptoms of an allergic reaction.

The antibodies discharge some histamine, which may impinge on the skin, mucous gland or membrane and even smooth muscle cells.

Typically the first sting doesn’t produce severe reactions and multiple stings do. Only for someone who has severe allergic reactions to bee stings that experiencing extreme symptoms to a single bee sting. This may be life threatening allergic reactions that happens without any other symptoms of allergy.

Dry Cough where in the eye starts to itch and swell are the beginning symptoms of the bee sting allergy. As the symptoms goes the patient starts sneezing and wheezing and develop hives to itch. This is the warning sign of a dangerous condition called anaphylaxis. Symptoms also include weakness, tightness in the chest area difficulty in breathing, very low blood pressure, shock and loss of consciousness. And for anyone who suffered from anaphylactic shocks needs an immediate medical treatment cause it only occur a few minutes and result in death.

An epinephrine injection is given to the patient suffering from anaphylactic shock. It is a hormone that stimulates the heart and relaxes the airways. In some cases this injection is given with an antihistamine to counteract the histamine that is produced in the immune system.

Be reminded that once you are victim from allergic reactions to bee stings; avoid situations where you might get stung. If you have some adventures such locations, be sure you carry with your self a kit with antihistamine tablets or injections for an emergency situation. Desensitization programs are given to the people who are severely allergic to bee stings where bee venom injections are administered in increasing doses till the body shows with tolerance to the venom.

An allergy specialist should do this not any ordinary people. This may take between 15 – 20 weeks for the body to develop immunity. And monthly booster shot is always available afterwards. In a summary, we should take immediate care when we get a gee sting. If not we will suffer the consequences. The easiest way is to go to a nearest hospital for an immediate treatment.

Aloe Vera Helps Prevent Allergies

May 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

By Chaz Milles

Aloe vera has been found to bring relief from allergies and hay fever due to pollen, dander, chemicals, perfume, dust mites, and foods, just to name a few.

When the collagen tissue is weakened in the nasal passages, lung tissues and intestinal tract cell walls allow foreign invaders to enter the blood stream, which causes an allergic reaction. You can begin to reverse the allergy sensitivity by taking Aloeride

The aloe vera has an acidic pH, which persuades the body to produce the proper amounts of hydrochloric acid to improve your digestion. Those with allergies sometimes are inflicted with a weak digestion, which will not allow the body to absorb the nutrients from the foods and supplements fed to the body. Once the body starts receiving the proper amount of nutrients, it will start producing collagen and will build up tissue structure to ward off the allergies. The aloe vera contains the glycomannan complex, which provides additional help to strengthen the tissue cell walls. Natural anti-inflammatory and analgesics are found in the yellow sap portion of the aloe vera, which will help reduce the swelling, the pain and the skin irritation. Camestrol, B-sitosterol, lupeol, and salicylic acid also found in aloe vera will help provide additional allergy relief.

By detoxifying and cleansing the liver many people have found relief from skin irritants like hives, eczema and psoriasis. The cleansing and detoxifying of the liver is something, which needs to be done like Spring Cleaning about once a year. It has been found the detoxifying of the liver using aloe vera can enhance liver functions. In fact there are many compounds found in aloe vera, which can help the liver function.

A pesky fungus called candida albicans can also be part of the problem. This fungus is present in most people in varying amounts. If large amounts can be found in the body candida can cause many problems. Symptoms include a white-coated tongue, yeast and fungal infections, jock itch, allergy, chemical sensitivity and poor digestion. To prevent the growth of Candida a diet high in proteins and vegetables and low in carbohydrates and sugars can help. Aloeride along with a good probiotic supplement can help with this problem.

A study was done on the Chemomodulatory action of Aloe vera on the profiles of enzymes associated with carcinogen metabolism and antioxidant status in regulation mice. The study was done to provide date on the fact “Aloe facilitates detoxification providing chemoprotection against carcinogens and other toxins, including drugs.

The effect of two doses of 30 micol and 60 microl per day per mice for 14 days of the fresh leaf pulp extract of Aloe vera was examined on carcinogen-metabolizing phase-I and phase-II enzymes, antioxidant enzymes, glutahione content, lactate dehydrogenase and lipid peroxidation in the liver of mice. The modulatory effect of the pulp extract was also examined on extrahepatic organs (lungs, kidney and forestomach) for the activities of glutathione S-transferase. DT-diophorase, superoxide dismutase and catalase. The positive control mice were treated with butylated hydroxyansiola (BHA). Aloe vera notably reduced the level of cytochrome P450 and cytochrome b5. Thus, Aloe vera is clearly the inducer of phase-II enzyme system. Treatment with both doses of Aloe caused a decrease in malondiaidehyde (MDA) formation and the activity of lactate dehydrogens in the liver, suggesting its role in protection against proozidant-induced membrane and cellular damage. The microsomal and cytosolic protein was substantially improved by the Aloe vera, indicating a possibility of its involvement in the induction of protein synthesis. BHA, an Antioxidant compound, provided the authenticity of our assay protocol and response of animals against modulator. The pulp extract was effective in inducing GST, DTD, DOD and catalase as measured in extrahepatic organs. Besides the liver, other organs such as the lungs, kidneys and forestomach were also influenced by Aloe vera in a favorable way in order to detoxify reactive metabolites, including chemical carcinogens and drugs.

The study was performed in the Cancer Biology Laboratory, School of Life Sciences, Jawaharial Nehru University, in New Delhi, India.

Children’s Allergies

Children’s Allergies Can Be Troublesome For Parents

Children’s allergies can be worrisome for new parents because children are so vulnerable to developing new allergies and their immune system is not fully developed. A child can have symptoms from a food related allergy or from being exposed to something by breathing it in or through direct contact. Its not known why some children grow out of allergies while others do not. Being able to diagnose allergies quickly will help make life more comfortable.

It is difficult for infants under two years of age to communicate allergy symptoms. Of course major symptoms like hives and rashes will be visible for a parent to see but many minor symptoms may not. It is often recommended that parents not give children peanuts until they are over the age of two and better able to communicate their symptoms.

The effects of children’s allergies can be cumulative and can be aggravated by a poor environment. Smoking around children should definitely be avoided. A build up of dust mites or pet dander can also be responsible for triggering allergy attacks in children. Contact allergies can be caused by detergents or by clothing material, all natural materials like cotton are the best choice.

Allergy testing can be done at any age. Skin testing can be used to either rule out or pinpoint the source of the problems. Early diagnosis is the key, once its known which allergen is causing the problem avoidance can in many cases be fairly easy. Thankfully allergy awareness is being more recognized by manufactures and labelling has improved to help consumers
